Hope Beyond Statistics
Anyone facing a transplant will, sooner or later, run into the numbers: median survival, averages, percentages. They can be frightening to read, especially when they arrive at a moment when you’re already carrying so much. But an average is only a midpoint. For every figure quoted, there are people living well beyond it, and behind every one of those figures is a person with a name, a family, and a life that carried on far longer than anyone predicted.
The stories on this page belong to some of those people.
We don’t deny that the statistics are real, and we don’t promise that every path will look the same.
What these stories offer is something numbers can’t: proof that long, full lives after transplant are not the exception to be marvelled at, but a possibility worth holding on to.
We hope that reading them gives you what they gave us: a little more room to hope.
